A prospective blend of Vieux Donjon's 2017 Chateauneuf du Pape looked particularly strong. At 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah and the balance Mourvedre and Cinsault, it reflects the vintage's poor fruit set in the Grenache and the strength of the Mourvedre. It shows amazingly fresh, floral notes, bright strawberry and raspberry fruit, matched by full body, ample richness and length.
